Visual storytelling presentation Nov. 8 at COD

Artist Lisa Boumstein-Smalley will present “Visual Storytelling” from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, in the McAninch Arts Center, Room 164.

During the free lecture, Boumstein-Smalley will discuss how visual storytelling is a powerful technique that borrows techniques from filmmaking, communication design and traditional story writing. She will show examples of how various mediums are used to deliver a powerful message.

Boumstein-Smalley holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she pursued Fiber and Material Studies. Prior to joining gravitytank, an innovative consultancy firm, she worked as a gallery director where she cultivated emerging talent for clients such as Starbucks, Leo Burnett, Joffrey Ballet, Hotel Sax, Nordstrom, as well as numerous residential clients.
