Fundraiser for students:Walmart in Algonquin is holding a fundraiser for students in Community Unit District 300 who are homeless or facing financial difficulty. The district is seeking backpacks; folders; notebooks; loose leaf, wide-ruled paper; pencils; black pens; scissors; glue sticks; rulers and crayons. The items will be collected from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 17 at Walmart, 1410 Randall Road. The district's goal is to fill a school bus with supplies for the neediest students. Call (847) 551-8307.Used cell phones needed: The Central Kane County TRIAD is seeking donations of used cell phones for seniors. Donated phones should be in general working order and have chargers included. They will be made available for seniors to use to call 911 in the event of an emergency. Donations are being accepted in the lobbies of the St. Charles Police Department, 2 State Ave., and the Geneva Township Senior Center, 400 Wheeler Drive.
