Hoffman Estates' boys basketball team had 1 more point at halftime Saturday night than it did for the entire 32 minutes in a loss 24 hours earlier to Palatine.

The Hawks didn't take an offensive break after the break, either, as they rolled to an 80-69 nonconference win over visiting Maine East behind a career-high 29 points from senior guard Kevin Tiongson.

Tiongson hit three 3-pointers and was 12-for-14 on free throws for the Hawks (12-9), who led 41-27 at halftime after losing 43-40 to Palatine on Friday.

Brandon Fischer added 12 points and Lance Vesper had 10 points and 9 rebounds for the Hawks. Nuse Khan had a game-high 36 points for Maine East (4-17).

Niles West 56, Meadows 53: Richie Kemph had a game-high 28 points and four 3s for host Rolling Meadows (7-13) in the nonconference loss. Paul Volkman added 9 points.

Chris McNichols (14 points) and Rodney Metellus (11 points) led Niles West (11-11).

Stevenson 54, Palatine 43: Nat Pearson had a game-high 18 points and Michael Orris added 10 for Palatine (8-14) in the nonconference loss to visiting Stevenson (16-6).

Glenbrook North 55, Conant 44: Christian Sotos (19 points) and Garett Gatz (13 points) led visiting Conant (12-9), which trailed 47-24 after three in the nonconference loss. Alex Dragicevich (23 points) and Austin Weber (13 points) led the Spartans (18-3).

Lake Zurich 58, Hersey 55: A 21-8 fourth-quarter helped Lake Zurich (2-20) end a 14-game losing streak and avenge a 54-31 loss at the Pekin tournament. Jordan Mertes (17 points), Vuk Vukovic (11 points) and Tom Sutrinaitis (11points) led Hersey (11-10).
