Learn about 'The Improbable Journey of America's Bird' with DuPage Birding Club April 14

Pulitzer Prize award-winning author Jack E. Davis will join the DuPage Birding Club for their next monthly meeting on Thursday, April 14. The Zoom presentation will begin at 7 p.m.

Davis will provide an informative talk on the cultural history of the bald eagle from its adoption as the national symbol by the Founding Fathers to the fight to rescue the eagle from extinction and its amazing recovery.

The presentation is based on Davis' latest book titled, "The Bald Eagle: The Improbable Journey of America's Bird."

The book discusses the threats to our national symbol by hunters and the DDT pesticide, and the efforts of some unsung heroes to prevent the extinction of the bald eagle not once, but twice.

Davis was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his book, "The Gulf: The Making of an American Sea." He holds the Rothman Family Endowed Chair in the Humanities and teaches environmental history and sustainability studies at the University of Florida.
