McHenry County area robotics team advances to state championship

The Golden Ratio, FTC team #12682, competed at the 2022 FIRST Tech Challenge League competition on Feb. 12.

The team from Cary and representing four schools in McHenry County, was judged on robot competition and design, as well as documentation and community outreach.

The team was the proud recipients of the Collins Aerospace Innovate Award, which is an award given to a team that thinks outside the box and has the ingenuity, creativity, and inventiveness to make their designs come to life.

The Golden Ratio was also proud to be awarded an Inspire Award, which is a judges' award that is given to the team that best embodies the challenges of the FIRST Tech Challenge program.

The team that receives this award is a strong ambassador for FIRST programs and a role model FIRST team.

Winning this award landed them an advancement to the state competition on Saturday, March 12, at Elgin Community College.

The FIRSTTech Challenge Illinois Championship Tournament is a one-day event showcasing robots developed and operated by teams of high school students.
