Genealogical society to host webinar on 'National Archives Resources at the Chicago Branch'
On Tuesday, April 13, the Lake County (IL) Genealogical Society will host a webinar on "National Archives Resources at the Chicago Branch" with Jane Haldeman from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The National Archives and Records Administration is the nation's record keeper. The archives in Chicago hold federal records from agencies in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin dating from the 1800s including territorial papers, farming and agriculture, naturalization, military, taxes, postal service, court cases, and many more records. These sources can be invaluable when researching your family history. Learn what's available and how to access these rich resources.
Haldeman is a Chicago-area based professional genealogist and owner of It's Relative, with more than 25 years of research experience. She lectures on a wide range of topics both locally and nationally. She is the national co-chair for the Federation of Genealogical Societies 2019 Conference in Washington, D.C. She is a former president of both the Illinois State Genealogical Society and Fox Valley Genealogical Society in Naperville and the author of A Genealogist's Guide to Springfield.
