PITA debuts in Lombard

Have a taste for gyros? You're in luck as PITA Mediterranean Street Food is opening its first Illinois location on Friday, Nov. 20, in Lombard. What's even better is that the fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant is offering a $3 grand opening gyro special from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Wednesday, Nov. 20-25. Or try other options from the made-to-order menu, including street pitas, rice bowls, pita platters (kebabs, shawarma, falafel, gyro, seafood), salads, spreads (hummus, baba ghanoush) and more. Order online or in store for takeout or curbside pickup.

Sunday brunch to-go

Missing brunch with friends? Saranello's is now offering Sunday brunch to-go, which you can share with family and friends during a virtual meetup. The three-course meal, which is $20.95 per person, includes a first course of Saranello's chopped salad, citrus-cured salmon and mini bagels with cream cheese. Next up is a choice of two entrees - chicken and waffles, braised beef short rib eggs Benedict, vegetable egg skillet or French toast - plus a side of applewood smoked bacon or sausage links, and crispy Parmesan breakfast potatoes. End on a sweet note with an apple crostada or creme brulee. There's a two-person minimum order. Add the mimosa kit for $25. Orders must be made one hour prior to curbside pickup, available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays.

Holiday shakes

Feeling nostalgic? For a limited time, Steak 'n Shake will be mixing up two holiday shakes - the Egg Nog (blended with egg nog syrup and topped with whipped cream, a cherry and nutmeg) and the Peppermint Chocolate Chip (mixed with peppermint syrup, chocolate and peppermint candy and garnished with whipped cream, peppermint and a cherry).
