Direct Steel and Construction recognized in National Hall of Fame competition

Crystal Lake, IL - March 22, 2016 - A structure built by Direct Steel and Construction of Crystal Lake, Illinois has been recognized by Varco Pruden Buildings, one of the nation's largest building-solutions providers. Varco Pruden is a division of BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc., and has a network of more than 1,000 builders across the United States and Canada.

Direct Steel and Construction has been named to Varco Pruden's 2016 Hall of Fame for the Lakeland Community Church in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

The 7,050-square-foot church structure was completed in June 2014.

The highly competitive Hall of Fame Awards are presented annually to the independent authorized VP builders whose work reflects innovation and excellence though the integration of VP building systems, products, architectural appearance, end use and design. The projects include a range of industrial, commercial, retail and municipal projects.

The church's unique appearance was designed by Aspen Design Group of Frankfort, Ill. Special design features included a custom parapet, faux tower element, expandable end-wall frame for future expansions, plus a steel stud and glass framed entrance with custom Varco Pruden SLR roof and trims. The structure is now used as the "worship center", and the entry/lobby serves for fellowship gathering and a casual meeting space. The church's pastor, Josh Amstutz, commented "We were aiming for a modern, yet affordable, structure that would carry a sense of relevancy, simplicity, and quality. Direct Steel provided that for us and went above and beyond in a build that included extremely frigid weather and a tight time frame."

"The Hall of Fame awards provide an extraordinary opportunity to celebrate and recognize exceptional builders. These winners reflect the broad scope of capabilities and variety of end-use possibilities for buildings constructed by our builder network. VP builders consistently produce incredible results for their clients," said Chuck Haslebacher, president of Varco Pruden.

Direct Steel and Construction's Project Manager, Gary Tillman, oversaw the church's construction and stated "while it is always great for an organization to be named as 'winners' of a particular event such as the VP Hall of Fame competition, it takes a considerable amount of Teamwork to take place for a successful project to be selected. Good architectural design, good construction product use and experience-based project management were all in play to make this a successful project. The church body of believers is the real winner, though. Without their united vision and mission the project would simply be a nice looking concept. We are excited for them and all those they are seeking to serve with this facility."
