Green's homer powers Antioch against Lakes

Go, Green.

Andy Green hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Antioch's baseball team a 2-1 win over crosstown-rival Lakes on Tuesday.

Paul Dejong had a single and an RBI for Antioch (7-9, 4-2 North Suburban Prairie). Chris Terzic (3-4) pitched all 7 innings for the Sequoits, striking out five, walking two and allowing 5 hits.

Lakes fell to 12-9, 3-2.

Warren 6, Libertyville 2: Zach Schneider (6-1) went the distance for the host Blue Devils in the North Suburban Lake Division showdown, scattering 7 hits, striking out six and walking one.

Ryan Kennedy went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI for Warren (18-3, 4-1), which also got a single and an RBI from both Scott Heelan and Pat Oliver.

For Libertyville (11-7, 5-2), Tyler Schweigert and Mike Whartnaby both had doubles.

Wauconda 10, Vernon Hills 7: Dan Tanzillo homered, doubled and earned the save in the North Suburban Prairie Division game.

Wauconda (13-9) got a triple from Kevin Fessler, while Jeff Jackson was 2-for-2 with 2 walks and 3 runs scored. Tim Matesi went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Jeremy Wagner picked up the win.

Cesar Gallegos had 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, for Vernon Hills. Brian Palmer and Chris Marras had 2 hits, including a double, each.

Grant 9, Round Lake 1: Jeremy Wiker was 3-for-3 with 3 RBI for the Bulldogs.

Dylan Strazzanti had a double and 3 RBI for Grant.

Lake Zurich 12, Lake Forest 12 (susp.): The North Suburban Lake Division game was suspended by darkness after seven innings and will be resumed today.

Lake Zurich starting pitcher Parker Asmann was hit by a line drive on the third pitch of the game and had to be taken to the hospital.

For Lake Zurich, Anthony Orlando is 5-for-5 with 5 RBI, and Kyle Sanders is 4-for-5 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI.
