Through October
• Cosley Zoo will host its Pumpkins and Scarecrows Fest from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through October at the zoo, 1356 N. Gary Ave., Wheaton. Visitors can shop for pumpkins and see the scarecrows on display. The free fest also offers fall items for sale, as well as a straw bale pyramid and cornstalk tunnel. • The annual Halloween Night Walk tickets for DuPage County Forest Preserve are available at Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center, 3609 Spring Road, Oak Brook. A maximum of eight tickets will be sold per person. The hour-long walks will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 26-28 at Fullersburg Woods. The walks feature Halloween tricks and natural history tales. • Things That Go Bump in the Night: A Halloween Magic Show will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Addison Public Library, 2 Friendship Plaza. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Children younger than 10 must be accompanied by a caregiver 16 or older. For details, call (630) 458-3338.

• The Roselle Public Library will host a Halloween Fun event featuring stories, songs and verse for children 18 months to 5 years old from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 24-25 at the library, 40 S. Oct. 25
• The Addison Park District's Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 25 at Centennial Recreation Center, in the preschool room, 1776 W. Centennial Place. Children ages 5 to 12 must bring their own pumpkin to carve and decorate, but all supplies will be provided. Prizes will be awarded for scaries, funniest and most original pumpkins. • The Bensenville Park District will host its annual Hallow's Eve Walk from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 26 at Veterans Park, Church Road and Main Street, Bensenville. Designed for all ages, the walk will consist of touring the park and visiting the park house. • The B.R. Ryall YMCA will hold its Halloween Extravaganza from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 26 at 49 Deicke Drive, Glen Ellyn. • Glen Ellyn's Halloween Fun Festival with downtown trick-or-treating will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in downtown Glen Ellyn. A costume parade for children will be at 10 a.m. at Prairie Path Park, between Park Boulevard and Forest Avenue. A family pumpkin decorating contest will be at the Civic Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Spooktacular Saturday will be from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 27 in downtown Lombard. The event will include trick-or-treating at downtown businesses, a petting zoo, musical entertainment, a costume parade and contests, a pumpkin give-away and more. • The Downers Grove Park District's Trick-or-Trot 5K will be Oct. 27 at McCollum Park, 6801 S. Main St. Race day registration will be from 6:45 to 7:45 a.m. and the race begins at 8 a.m. Advance registration will be accepted at two park district facilities: Lincoln Center, 935 Maple Ave., and the Recreation Center, 4500 Belmont Road. The first 200 registrants will receive a T-shirt. The cost is $18 for residents and CARA members, $21 for others. Runners 17 and younger must have a waiver signed by a parent. • Word of Life Lutheran Church will hold a Spook-ghetti dinner at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the church, 879 Tudor Drive, Naperville. The event includes a costume contest and games for all ages. Donations of unwrapped new gifts for newborns to teens from $5 to $20 will be welcome to support the San Pablo Lutheran Church's Christmas market in Aurora.
