Taize service: Church of the Holy Apostles in Wauconda will offer a church service in the style of Taize at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30. This service is offered every fifth Friday of a month. Spiritual discovery workshop: The community is invited to discover the answer to the question, "Is There a Call for Me?" in a spiritual discovery workshop being sponsored by the United Protestant Church of Grayslake on Saturday, Feb. 7. Marjorie Bankson, an author, artist and workshop leader, is the facilitator. This workshop will launch a nine-month-long, churchwide program of discerning gifts and ministries in the ordinary structures of our lives at home, at work, in the community and the wider world. Cost for the workshop, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is $10, which includes lunch. Scholarships are available. The workshop will be held at the UPC, at 54 S. Whitney St. in downtown Grayslake. Listen, Laugh and Learn to Escape Stress: Presentation by Jason Kotecki from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at St. Mary of the Annunciation at Fremont Center, 22333 W. Erhart Road in Mundelein. An ice cream social to follow. By combining funny anecdotes, uplifting stories and a bit of cartooning, Kotecki shares biblically based principles and real-world techniques to help you to uncover God's great purpose and gain peace of mind. Hospitality: Join the Rev. Elizabeth Harding on Sunday, Feb. 8, and the Prairie Circle Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 9:15 a.m. in the Byron Colby Barn, 1561 Jones Point Road, Grayslake, in the Prairie Crossing community. The sermon topic is: "Hospitality as Spiritual Practice." The book, "Radical Spirituality: Benedict's Way of Love," offers many ways to practice hospitality in our congregation and in our individual lives. Harding is the part-time consulting minister for the Prairie Circle Unitarian Universalist Congregation. She conducts services twice a month and is available to provide pastoral care. Clothes for the needy: Clothing in sizes ranging from infant to size 16 boys and girls is available the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Episcopal Church's "Elijah's Mantle for Children in Need" community service project, located at 31 Park Ave., Grayslake. Next dates are: Feb. 14, March 14, April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, Aug. 8, Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 14 and Dec. 12. There is no cost.
