Hard-hitting Warren handles Libertyville

Nikki Ponticelli smacked a pair of 2-run doubles, and Warren's softball team won again Wednesday.

The visiting Blue Devils knocked off Libertyville for the second time in as many days, winning this time 11-1 in five innings.

Sarah Clauser (2-for-2, 3 runs) added a 2-run single for Warren (16-5, 5-1), while the Blue Devils received RBI base hits from Alex Booker (3-for-3, 2 stolen bases), Kaiti McKeon, Sarah Shanders (2-for-2) and Amanda Reed. Winning pitcher Kayla Hurd was 2-for-3.

Hurd allowed 2 hits, struck out seven and walked two.

Libertyyville fell to 0-8 in the NSC Lake.

Lake Zurich 15, Lake Forest 0: Megan Mattera led the Bears' 17-hit attack by going 3-for-4, including her seventh homer, and 5 RBI.

Katrina Klausing and Kim Winzensten each went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI, while Kelly Neisis was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Ella Aslan added a double.

Tabbetha Bohac pitched the complete game, allowing 2 hits and striking out five. The Bears improved to 13-8 and 6-0 in the North Suburban Lake Division.

Grant 6, Round Lake 3: Ashlee Fullerton earned the win and helped her own cause with a double.

Brie Brugioni also doubled for Grant and earned the save.

For Round Lake (3-19), Erin Steele and Socorro Delarosa both collected 2 hits, including RBI doubles. Lauren Dilollo added 2 hits and a stolen base.

Stevenson 11, Mundelein 4: Winning pitcher Allie Micucci went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Ashley Niedermayer hit an inside-the-park homer, as the visiting Patriots topped the Mustangs for the second day in a row in North Suburban Lake Division action.

Rebekah Ozga, Amanda Jaegers (2 runs, RBI) and Jordan Willis added 2 hits apiece for Stevenson (13-9, 6-2), and Heather Cohen had a pinch-hit double. Niedermayer's home run was her third in two days, after she hit a pair of grand slams Tuesday.

Micucci went the distance in the circle, striking out five and allowing 5 hits.

Mundelein fell to 2-6 in the NSC Lake.

Antioch 13, Lakes 3: Allie Anttila homered for the second day in a row, and the host Sequoits topped their crosstown rival for the third time this season, winning this time in 6 innings.

Antioch (14-4, 6-0 North Suburban Prairie) pounded out 19 hits, including a home run, as well, from Samie Seamon.

The Sequoits' big hitters included Anttila (3-for-4, 3 RBI) Jessie Liszak (3-for-3, 2 RBI), Bailan Reynolds (3-for-3, RBI), Seamon (2-for-4, 3 RBI), Lauren Moore (2-for-4, RBI), Cat Dinklenburg (2-for-3, RBI) and Jessica Ploss (2-for-3).

Duehr (8-4) allowed 4 hits over 5 innings, striking out five and yielding 2 earned runs.

Shannon Cooley homered and singled for Lakes.

Wauconda 5, Vernon Hills 4: Freshman Alex Kinnamon drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Bulldogs the extra-inning win in North Suburban Prairie action.

Kinnamon, Kate Martino and Kendra Wedl each had 2 hits for Wauconda (13-9, 7-1).

Vernon Hills (6-14, 1-7) got a home run from Christina Oberrieder (3-for-3). Anya Mollenhauer went 2-for-4.
