Ronald McDonald to stop by WinterFest Feb. 20

With plenty of snow on the ground and less than six weeks of winter remaining, Addison Park District invites the public to its first WinterFEST from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20 at Community Park, 120 E. Oak St. in Addison. This event is free and open to the public.

Outdoor activities include ice skating, sledding, a snowman making contest, snow golf and snow volleyball in addition to other family-friendly activities. Participants must bring their own ice skates and sleds to participate in activities, however golf equipment will be provided for the snow golf competition.

Teams of four are encouraged to call the park district administrative office at (630) 883-0100 to register their volleyball team for the tournament scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m.

A marshmallow roasting station will be available for all to make and enjoy s'mores. All activities will be available from noon to 4 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

For those wanting to escape from the cold, indoor activities will be offered inside Community Recreation Center. Indoor children's activities include a craft area, cookie decorating and a Dino Jump bounce house.

Ronald McDonald will be performing a magic show at 1 p.m. inside Community Recreation Center. This is a must see for kids of all ages. Additionally, the Westernettes Baton Corps will perform at 2 and again at 3 p.m.

Culver's of Addison will be providing complimentary chili tastings and for $5.00 an endless bowl of chili may be purchased. In addition to chili, other concessions will be available for a nominal fee.
