Wells' late jumper helps Grant get past Libertyville

Grant's boys basketball team trailed but stayed close to Libertyville most of the night during Tuesday's North Suburban Conference crossover.

But with nine seconds remaining in the game, Sean Wells hit a baseline jumper to give the Bulldogs the 55-54 win at home.

Jared Helmich scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Grant. Wells chipped in 17 points, and Ilya Kadushin added 12.

Grant, which improved its record to 19-7, has won 10 of 11 games and 15 out of 18.

Three Wildcats also scored in double digits. Anthony Mack scored 13 points, Luke Mathewson had 12 and Dan Ryan added 10.

Stevenson 72, Wauconda 39: Matt Morrissey scored 14 points, and Jalen Brunson and Connor Cashaw added 11 apiece to help the Patriots improve their record to 16-10.

Wauconda guard Kyle Ryan scored 10 points, giving 1,014 in his career and moving him into third place on the Bulldogs' all-time scoring list.

Matt Mead added 8 points for Wauconda (11-16).

Grayslake North 57, Grayslake Central 45: The host Knights led the Rams 28-19 at halftime and never looked back in the Fox Valley Fox Division finale.

Ben Guhl led Grayslake North (17-7, 9-3) with 18 points. A.J. Fish added 10, as the Knights avenged a 64-55 loss on Jan. 27.

FVC Fox champ Grayslake Central (18-8, 10-2) was led by Jordan Taylor, who scored 10 points. Danny Reed added 9, while Sean Geary and Sayvonte McWilliams had 8 apiece.

Mundelein 67, Lakes 60: Led by Robert Knar with 21 points and Chino Ebube with 13, the Mustangs improved to 23-7.

Lakes led 39-30 at halftime but was unable to hold the lead as Mundelein was strong on the offensive glass and was able to overcome the deficit.

Lakes (17-10) was led by Tanner Blain with 19 points. Justin Bergeron added 10.

Zion-Benton 63, Antioch 51: Emery Paramski led the Sequoits with 13 points, including three 3-pointers.

William Waschow added 11 for Antioch (4-22).
