Lakes stuns Vernon Hills

Lakes 51, Vernon Hills 39: The Eagles pulled off a stunner, handing the visiting Cougars their first loss in the North Suburban Prairie Division.

Ashley Parmly led Lakes (5-12, 2-5) with 14 points, while Asja Tripplett added 8 points and 12 rebounds. The Eagles also got 7 points apiece from Katie Brinser and Jenna Schellinger. Jenelle Chraistiansen, Chani Bloomfield and Jen Totten played well on defense, coach Pete Schneider said.

Vernon Hills (12-7, 7-1) had beaten Lakes by 26 points earlier this season.

"Vernon Hills is a solid team," Schneider said. "They were not hitting on their 3s tonight and we controlled the boards. They are the best on our side of the conference, but tonight we were just a little better."

Alana Coy had 12 points on four 3-pointers for the Cougars.

Antioch 64, Round Lake 37: Andi Potkonjak scored a team-high 14 points, including 2 free throws before any time ticked off the clock in the North Suburban Prairie Division game.

Round Lake was whistled for a technical foul before tipoff because of a uniform violation - a Panther logo on the back of its jerseys.

"First time in two years (with the jerseys)," said Panthers coach Gary Edge, who is retiring following this season. "First time anybody has said jack diddly-squat. No one has even said, 'Hey, you might want to get a waiver from the (IHSA).' "

Antioch (8-10, 4-3) jumped out to a 19-8 lead after one quarter and was up 40-14 at halftime.

Potkonjak (two 3-pointers) scored all of her points in the first half.

Jessica Ploss added 10 points and 8 rebounds for the Sequoits, while Lauren Tiffany and Lindsey Gofron chipped in 9 points apiece. Gofron also had 4 assists and 3 steals. Sarah Gaborek scored a season-high 8 points coming off the bench.

For Round Lake (5-14, 0-7), Chanae Brown had 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Lauren Siems added 9 points. Brown, Siems and Kenzie Phillips each sank a 3-pointer.

Libertyville 43, Lake Zurich 40: The visiting Wildcats emerged with their 11th win in a row when the Bears missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Savannah Trees scored 12 points for Libertyville (17-4, 6-2 North Suburban Lake).

Lake Zurich fell to 7-14, 1-8.

Wauconda 57, North Chicago 30: Kate Martino had 13 points, 6 steals and 4 assists for the Bulldogs in the North Suburban Prairie matinee.

Janelle DaCosta added a season-high 10 for Wauconda (13-4, 7-1), which coupled with Vernon Hills' loss to Lakes, moved into a first-place tie in the division.

Warren 46, Grant 37: Alexis Leneau scored 15 points and also had 4 assists and 4 steals for the Blue Devils in the North Suburban crossover.

Morgan Garrett chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds for Warren (10-11).

Grant (9-11) was led by Kassie Stimpson's 11 points. Donnie Taggart had 9 points and 7 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Grayslake Central 45, CL Central 31: Alex Scarbro's 16 points paced the Rams in the Fox Valley Fox game.

Grayslake Central (13-5, 6-1) also got 8 points apiece from Maddy Miller and Kat Dickson.

Lake Forest 39, Mundelein 36: Mary Striedl poured in 24 points to lead the host Scouts in the North Suburban Lake contest. Claire DiMario added eight for Lake Forest (13-7, 3-4).

Brooke Evans scored 18 points for Mundelein (13-10, 3-4).
