Sturm’s effort paces Wauconda victory
Dani Sturm’s double-double helped power Wauconda’s girls basketball team to victory Wednesday night.
Sturm scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, leading the visiting Bulldogs to a 44-29 win over Round Lake in North Suburban Prairie Division action.
Wauconda guard Lauren Nee scored a game-high 14 points, hitting four 3-pointers, and dished out 5 assists, as the Bulldogs improved to 2-5 and 1-2 in the NSC Prairie. Jena Heck had 7 rebounds for Wauconda.
Round Lake got 10 points from Bianca Mahoney.
Libertyville 39, Lake Zurich 28: Olivia Mayer scored 9 of her team-high 11 points in the fourth quarter, and the visiting Wildcats won for just the second time this season and first time in North Suburban Lake Division action.
Libertyville (2-6, 1-1) also received 8 points from Dana Kym.
Sarah Stefaniu’s 14 points led Lake Zurich.
Grant 59, Lake Forest Academy 36: Emily Kerr scored a season-high 12 points as the host Bulldogs won their fourth game in a row.
Freshman guard Jasmine Sangster added 9 points, including a 3-pointer, for Grant (5-4).
Vernon Hills 70, North Chicago 47: Lauren Webb’s season-high 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists led the host Cougars in the North Suburban Prairie contest.
Meri Bennett-Swanson added a season-best 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocked shot for Vernon Hills (8-0, 2-0), and Sydney Smith had 16 points and 9 boards.
