Grace Lutheran Church: For the rest of the summer, until Sept. 7, there will be only one service at 9:30 a.m. with Summer Promiseland for children in preschool to sixth grade each Sunday following the children's message. Coffee fellowship will follow worship.
Traditional worship is offered the first and third Sundays of each month, and contemporary worship is the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Holy Communion is offered the first and second Sundays of the month, and nursery service is available each Sunday.

Holy Apostles Church (Episcopal): The Rev. Martha Gillette of Holy Apostles Church in Wauconda will give an overview and share pictures of her recent trip to Malawi and Zambia at her Fair Trade Snapshot at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at the church, located at 26238 N. • Church of the Holy Apostles Episcopal Church will offer an intergenerational Christian Formation program titled "The Word in the World." The focus will be on the Episcopal Catechism. This discussion program will take place on the second and fourth Wednesdays from September 2008 through June 2009. To accommodate differing personal schedules, two identical sessions are being offered by the Rev. Ivanhoe Congregational Church, United Church of Christ: Food, music and crafts highlight the Ivanhoe Community Festival sponsored by the Ivanhoe Congregational Church Men's Club, Women's Guild and other volunteer church members Aug. 24. The free Craft Show begins at 10 a.m. and the Chicken and Corn Roast begins at noon.
Held on the grounds of the oldest organized church in Lake County, Ivanhoe Congregational Church, 21078 W Highway 176, Mundelein, a meal of roasted chicken, sweet corn, salads, roll and beverage will be served from noon to 5 p.m. A donation of $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12 is requested for the meal. Children 3 and under are free.
There will be live music, indoor seating, outdoor seating under a large tent and activities for children. The craft fair will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Ivanhoe Congregational Church grounds next to the church.
The worship service will be held at 9 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. Aug. 24.
The Lake County Jewish Community Campus: Check out the facilities of the newest early childhood center in Lake Zurich at the Lake County Jewish Community Campus, 23280 N. Old McHenry Road. St. Matthew Lutheran Church: The church at 24500 N. Old McHenry Road, Hawthorn Woods, will host a Bible Study for women titled "Believing God: Experiencing a Fresh Explosion of faith." Annunciation of Our Lady Episcopal Church: There will be only one service Aug. 24 at Annunciation. The 9:30 a.m. service will be followed by the annual picnic. St. Andrew Episcopal Church: The church at 31 Park Ave., Grayslake (corner of Park and Lake streets), presents Elijah's Mantle for Children in Need." This is a community service project with a goal to help families with children in need by supplying free, gently-used children's clothing. The store is open to everyone from 9 to 11 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month. Gently-used clothing is available for boys and girls in sizes ranging from infant to size 16. The United Protestant Church of Grayslake: A new Sunday summer worship schedule at United Protestant Church of Grayslake will run through Sept. 7, with only a single Sunday morning worship service at 9:30 a.m.
New this summer, Christian education for all ages will be held after the 9:30 service, beginning at 10:45 a.m. Carol Roselli-Rasmussen, director of Christian education, will lead a summer adult education class using the book "The Jesus Priorities."
And for the third summer at UPC, Senior Pastor David Russell will devote four August Sundays to movie themes in addition to biblical messages.
On Aug. 24, "The Great Debaters," starring Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker, will explore the theme "There is Hope for Justice." The series concludes with the baseball movie "Field of Dreams" and the theme "Without Vision?"

North Shore Congregation Israel: The popular Shabbat Yeladim Service has been extended by popular demand This Shabbat celebration for families with young children includes songs and stories, puppets and prayer, friends and fun.
The public is invited to join the celebration on Friday evenings Aug. 29 at 5:30 p.m. Shabbat Yeladim takes place on the beautiful front lawn of North Shore Congregation Israel and moves inside in case of rains.
