• The Oakbrook Terrace Park District is accepting submissions for its annual spring drawing contest until April 18 at the Heritage Center, 1S325 Ardmore Ave. Children in grades one through five may submit original artwork. • Officer Dave Gaddis, a K-9 handler from the Willowbrook Police Department, will speak to the Hinsdale Humane Society's Junior Humane Society from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hinsdale Youth Center, 229 Symonds Drive. Gaddis will talk about why K-9 units are important and about what they do and demonstrate obedience and different types of searches. • Three local residents will discuss genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan at the following meetings: Bloomingdale Township Democratic Organization, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Glenside Public Library, 25 E. St. Charles Road. Lisle resident Gene Tenner and two local Sudanese residents, Wilson Luol and John Enakal, will give a PowerPoint presentation and participate in a question and answer session. Luol and Enakal were forced to flee their homeland when civil war erupted. Tenner, a local political activist, is a member of the Save Darfur movement.

• The Illinois Prairie Weavers will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Downers Grove Public Library, 1050 Curtiss St. Karen Musgrave will present a slide lecture about her travels to the former Soviet Republics of Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and the women there who make their living with needlecraft. • Adventist Paulson Pediatric Rehabilitation Center's Little Feet, Big Hearts third annual "Bowling for Little Feet" bowling and silent auction fundraiser will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday at Lucky Strike, 100 Yorktown Center, Lombard. The event, sponsored by the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation, is a major fundraiser for the outpatient pediatric rehabilitation center. Tickets for adults cost $35 in advance and $40 at the door. • Benedictine University's Best Buddies 5K Walk/Run fundraiser will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex, 5700 College Road. The cost is $15, which includes a T-shirt and prizes for the top 10 runners. Proceeds will benefit the Cebrzynski scholarship fund for Benedictine students. The scholarship was established in memory of Cindy Cebrzynski, a Benedictine student and a member of Best Buddies until she was killed in a car accident in 2004.
