Oct. 8
Hoop Defenders clinic: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, Woodlawn Middle School, 6362 Gilmer Road, Long Grove. For girls in grades 5-8. The clinic will include the fundamentals of ballhandling, defense, shooting and rebounding. The camp cost is $20. Jump Shout Cheerleading: Register by Monday, Oct. 12, for clinic from 6-7 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 26 to Nov. 30, Gymnastics Factory, 888 E. Belvidere Road, Suite 202. Libertyville Lady Cats tryouts: 6-7:30 p.m. for grades 5-6 and 7:45-9 p.m. for grades 7-8, Wednesday, Oct. 14; and 5-6:15 p.m. for grades 7-8 and 6:30-8 p.m. for grades 5-6, Sunday, Oct. 18, Libertyville High School Field House, Libertyville High School, 708 W. Park Ave., Libertyville. Girls in grades 5-8 planning to attend Libertyville High School can try out for the LHS Girls Feeder Basketball Team. Bring a registration form and medical waiver form, and water, a basketball and court shoes. Registration begins 15 minutes before tryouts. Dodgeball and Kickball: 5-6 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 14 to Nov. 18, Lindenhurst Park District, 2200 E. Grass Lake Road, Lindenhurst. Ages 5-7 can learn to play different dodgeball games including regular, hunters and buffalo, four team dodgeball and more, as well as kickball. Youth Basketball League: South Barrington youth basketball leagues are available for boys and girls in first-eighth grade. Teams will be formed in late fall and games will be played form January through March 2010. All teams are headed by a volunteer coach and all players receive a participation trophy. Nehara Hadassah Couples Bowling League: 8 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month beginning in August at Lakeside Lanes, 900 S. Lake, Mundelein. This league goes from August to May with a $25 payment every month per couple.
