Beth Judea Food donations: Judea congregants will be asked to take home specially marked grocery bags on Rosh Hashana, Sept. 19-20, and return them at Kol Nidre services on Sept. 27 filled with kosher food, paper goods and baby products. Everything collected will be donated to the ARK, a Chicago social service agency which provides comprehensive services for the homeless and the indigent. Beth Judea is located on Route 83 and Hilltop Road in Long Grove. The entire community is invited to bring food and paper goods to the synagogue before Sept. 25. Business/Craft Expo: The Mundelein Park District is looking for exhibitors for its Business and Craft Expo to be held 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Mundelein Community Center, 1401 N. Midlothian Road, Mundelein. Exhibit cost is $40, and includes an 8-foot table, tablecloth, business sign, and electricity if needed. Admission to the expo will be free to the public. Volunteers Gardeners sought: Volo Bog State Natural Area, 28478 W. Brandenburg Road, Ingleside. Volo Bog's Volunteer Gardeners are adults who devote 1-3 hours per week to pulling weeds, watering, transplanting seedlings and collecting and scattering seeds. The season runs from mid spring, when the volunteers gather for cleanup burns, through late fall of each year. Tree and bench donations: The Vernon Hills Park District offers residents and neighbors the opportunity to honor a special person or commemorate an event by donating a tree or bench in a district park. Trees range from $225-$475 depending on the species selected, and can be personalized with a bronze plaque, which is sold at cost. Benches may be purchased for donation at a cost of $700, and personalized with a bronze plaque. Prices for plaques start at $70. Eli Skinner Chapter, NSDAR: The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is seeking volunteers to make wool caps for the troops stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo and South Korea.
