Sept. 24
Mini-Hawk Multi Sport: 5:30-7:30 p.m. for six weeks, Thursdays, starting Sept. 24, Paulus Park, 200 S. Rand Road, Lake Zurich. Vernon Hills Lady Cougars: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 24 and 25, and 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, Vernon Hills High School, 145 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills. Tryouts for the Vernon Hills Lady Cougars Feeder Basketball Program for grades 5-8. Players are expected to attend all three tryout dates. There is a $20 tryout fee which includes, a Lady Cougars Basketball T-shirt. Players must reside in High School District 128 and plan to attend Vernon Hills High School. Worldwide Day of Play: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, Deerpath Park, near the Cherokee Road entrance, Vernon Hills. A free, family event with activities including a baggo tournament, moonwalk, sand volleyball, basketball contests, sack races, egg toss, hula hoop contests and more. Grayslake Central Boys Basketball Tryouts: 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. for grades 5-6, 1-2:15 p.m. for grades 7-8 Sunday, Sept. 27, and 5-6 p.m. for grades 5-6 and 6:15-7:15 p.m. for grades 7-8 Monday, Oct. 5, Grayslake Central High School, 400 N. Lake St., Grayslake. Participants should attend both tryout dates. Parents must accompany players the first day. Registration required. $20 tryout fee; $400 league fee plus $80 uniform fee. Youth Basketball League: South Barrington youth basketball leagues are available for boys and girls in first-eighth grade. Teams will be formed in late fall and games will be played form January through March 2010. All teams are headed by a volunteer coach and all players receive a participation trophy. Nehara Hadassah Couples Bowling League: 8 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month beginning in August at Lakeside Lanes, 900 S. Lake, Mundelein. This league goes from August to May with a $25 payment every month per couple.
