Ramirez scores winner for Round Lake

Round Lake 2, Wauconda 1: Jimmy Ramirez came off the bench and scored the game-winning goal off an Alex Murua corner kicker in the 75th minute.

Gilberto Alfaro also scored, with Jordi Rubio assisting, for Round Lake (4-2-1, 3-0), which stayed undefeated in the North Suburban Prairie.

"It was a tough game," Panthers coach Mike Hruska said. "Wauconda really fought hard. So I was happy to come out with the win."

Lake Zurich 3, Mundelein 0: Nick Janus had a goal and an assist for the Bears in their North Suburban Lake opener.

Eric Pothast and Tim Kreutz also scored, while Brett Harper had 2 assists for Lake Zurich (7-2), which did all of its scoring in the first half.

Tyler Raineri and Jeff Kreutz shared the shutout in goal.

Vernon Hills 1, Grayslake C. 0: Spencer Raak scored an unassisted goal off a corner kick in the first half, as the Cougars hung on in first-round action of their Cougar Classic.

Vernon Hills improved to 2-5.

North Chicago 1, Grant 0: The Warhawks scored in the second half of the North Suburban Prairie game.

Grant fell to 3-6.
