Events that raise money for some type of charity, including galas, golf outings, rummage sales, shopping events, fashion shows, picnics and sport nights. Deadline is two weeks before event date.
April 16

MHS Variety Show: 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, Mundelein High School, 1350 W Hawley St., Mundelein. MHS students will perform; scheduled acts include a magician, bands, soloists, singers, dancers and more. Admission is $5 for all seats, and will raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
April 18
Take a Step for Kids: Day-of-event registration begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, April, Independence Grove Forest Preserve, 16400 W Buckley Road, Libertyville. Community Youth Network's 5K/10K Run and 5K Walk will raise money to help children and families who have been victims of abuse. Start time is 9 a.m. for runners, 9:15 a.m. for walkers. Registration is $30 on the day of the event. Advance registration is $25 through Thursday, April 16; register at takeastepforkids.org.
Ice cream fundraiser: Noon to 8:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19, KaleidoScoops, 1036 Weiland Road in Buffalo Grove. KaleidoScoops ice cream parlor will donate 20 cents to the Foundation for the Indian Trails Public Library for every dollar spent. It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater.
