NAMI of McHenry County names new executive director

The National Alliance on Mental Illness of McHenry County has welcomed Abbey Nicholas, M.S. as the new executive director.

Nicholas, who started on July 1, replaces retiring executive director Alex Campbell.

Nicholas has served for the past six years as chief operating officer for the Down Syndrome Association of the State of Wisconsin.

Nicholas, who grew up in McHenry County, has a master's degree in management from the University of Notre Dame, Mendoza College of Business, and a bachelor's degree in social work from Marquette University.

Nicholas will oversee all operations of NAMI of McHenry County and will work with the board of directors in the strategic planning for NAMI.

NAMI of McHenry County provides support, education and advocacy services for individuals living with mental illness and their family members.

In addition, NAMI provides a variety of support groups and prevention services including Suicide Prevention (QPR) and Mental Health First Aid training.

NAMI of McHenry County has been a leader in providing high quality mental health services to individuals and their families since the 1980s.
