The Land Conservancy hosts Art of the Land art show fundraiser Nov. 19-20
The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is hosting the 13th annual "Art of the Land" art show and fundraiser Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19-20, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the historic Starline Factory, 306 W. Front St. in Harvard.
"Art of the Land" is a showcase of artwork that features the beauty of the McHenry County landscape. The show includes art for sale from local artists, artisan items for purchase, poetry by the Woodstock-based poetry collective Atrocious Poets, raffles, live music, appetizers (included in ticket price) and cash bar.
In addition to the fine art show, the event features a display of photos taken by amateur photographers at many of the properties TLC has preserved. Guests will have the opportunity to vote on a "People's Choice" photograph each night.
Art of the Land is TLC's biggest fundraiser of the year, and 30 percent of all sales from the event support land preservation in McHenry County. The organizers are excited to welcome guests back in person to the Starline Factory in 2021 and will adhere to all Covid-19 guidelines in place on the dates of the event.
Advance tickets are $15 per night or $25 for a two-night pass and can be purchased at www.ArtoftheLand.org.
At the door, tickets will be $20 per night.
Participating artists include: Esther Aron, Julia Aydin, Kirsten Barry, Gerard Bauer, Angela Boe, Tammy Bozer, Tom Cubr, Mary Jean Deja, Linda Gurgone, Ellen Judson, Joan Ladendorf, Eric Larson, Jodi Larson, Paul McFadden, Charles David Miller, Linda Oeffling, Tom Rybarczyk, Barbara Schneider, Patti Stricker, Tom Warnke, Gail Weber and Katherine Weber.
This year's event is a great opportunity to shop local for handmade gifts. Art of the Land artisans include: Danielle Beggren (Suds Hub); Lorette Dodt (Dodt Design & Photography); Debby Henning | Leanne Emery (Triskele Moon Studios); Judy Reilly (Fun Felts by Judy); Karen Stahlecker (WillOaks Studio); and Lynda Wallis (Freelance Illustrations).
Two local McHenry County based bands will perform this weekend. Miles Over Mountains Duo, which plays a modernized style of progressive bluegrass, will perform on Friday night and Cheryl & the Down Home Boys, performing Americana, a blend of Roots music, on Saturday.
