NorthPointe Resources' Socially Responsible Artwork Program Benefits Artists, Community
ZION, IL - March 7, 2019 - NorthPointe Resources, serving people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) and mental illness (MI) in Northern Illinois counties, announces its MarketPointe program, designed to provide artistic opportunities to its clients while building community awareness.
NorthPointe is committed to investing in paths to opportunity through the training and employment of people with I/DD and MI. MarketPointe, one facet of this mission, was created to teach marketable skills to clients while honing their creative talents. MarketPointe is comprised of three programs:
• NRI ART360: original, inspirational art in numerous mediums
• Table Top Farmer: hydroponic gardening
• The Charming Bead: artisan jewelry
"By using our spending power wisely, we can directly contribute to building a better world for people with I/DD and MI," said Krystine Miluski, Vice President, Marketing & Sales. "Together we can create positive changes, allowing everyone in the community to thrive."
The NRI ART360 program was created 15 years ago to promote awareness, community, and opportunity for artists with disabilities and/or mental illness through the recognition and sale of their artwork. The program uses a "Circle for Good" concept, in which artists earn income from the profit of each sale. Additionally, a percentage goes to the client's nonprofit of choice, and the remaining portion is used to further NorthPointe's mission.
In 2004,15 artists with disabilities collaborated on four paintings depicting each season. Using their preferred mediums, the artists produced an amalgam of perspectives of each season's energy. Of the four seasons, Summer was chosen from more than 2,000 entries to be permanently displayed in the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CARF-CACC) building in Washington DC.
In-stock artwork is available for purchase from the on-site Killian Center gallery at NorthPointe Resources or can be commissioned. Every piece of art tells a one-of-a-kind story. More and more corporations, businesses, organizations and homes in the community and beyond are choosing to decorate with socially responsible art. Two corporations, Enterprise and CorTech, have purchased artwork for their offices.
Enterprise Fleet Management Account Executive Christine Cortina said, "Having the opportunity to decorate our office while supporting a local organization was appealing and represents Enterprise's commitment to community growth and prosperity."
CorTech International's Senior Vice President Kathy Greco added, "I was impressed by the level of creativity and professionalism in the paintings. What is great is that at the same time we are supporting the community and an organization dedicated to social good."
