Grayslake Arts Alliance plans March 11 show

Fifteen local artists will show their work Saturday March 11 when the Grayslake Arts Alliance hosts a Fine Art Show at the Heritage Center, 164 Hawley Street, Grayslake.

Various types of art will be available for viewing ranging from photography, mixed media, pastels, water colors and encaustic. Local artist Adam Reh will demonstrate blind contour sketching during the show and a special exhibit will be open showcasing original art from the children attending the Old School Montessori.

The Grayslake Arts Alliance is a new community group dedicated to promoting the arts through education, participation and development. Its long-term goal is the creation of an arts center in the Grayslake downtown area.

"This is our third show," said Ernest J. Schweit, a founding member of the group, "and we are seeing an increase in participation, attention and interest in the community. It's exciting to be part of a grass roots movement in the arts. The Grayslake Arts Alliance has given us the chance to knit together local artists with the rest of the local community."

Artists showing their work will include: Sharon Rollings, Schweit, Lily Gaines, Roni Malic, Sherri Fowler, Jim Brooksher, Reh, Heather June Toser, Rebecca Stahr, Sue Strum, Paula Casey, Lauren Kagen, Jeri Osowski, Bernie Ward and Lee Loebman.

Music will be provided by Jeff Moore, a pianist with the Chapin Jazz Studio, and Something's Brewing will donate sweets and coffee.

Membership in the Grayslake Arts Alliance is open to any artist or art lover living or working in the Grayslake area zip code. Join by applying on the Grayslake Arts Alliance group Facebook page
