Tree of Life rummage sale returns Aug. 11-13

The annual Rummage Sale at Tree of Life Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 5603 Bull Valley Road in McHenry, will return from Thursday, Aug. 11, to Saturday, Aug. 13.

Doors will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. On Saturday, remaining large items will be on sale for half price and clothing and smaller items can be had for $2 a bag.

Last year, an excited shopper rated Tree of Life's rummage sale the best she has found in McHenry County.

"What sets our sale apart is the quality of the offerings and the well organized and accessible display of merchandise," according to Judy Stettner, the congregation's official "Rummage Sale Queen." "Our clothing is like new or gently used, clean, and clearly sized. Electronics and household gadgets work. Everything is clean and we have an unusually good selection of furniture, larger items, home décor, and art. Unitarians Universalists are notorious readers and music lovers so our books musical selections are first rate."

Proceeds support the ministry of the congregation and 10 percent goes directly to the Direct Assistance Program of the Woodstock Area Community Ministry, which provides emergency assistance to people who fall between the cracks of other social services.

For details on the sale, contact Judy Stettner at (815) 893-0232, email stettner.judy@gmail.com or visit treeoflifeuu.org.
