May is Melanoma Awareness Month, which helps further education about this form of skin cancer. Melanoma is caused by changes in skin cells called melanocytes, which create the melanin responsible for skin and hair color.

Melanoma is the most leading cause of death from skin disease. The key to successfully treating melanoma and other forms of skin cancer is recognizing symptoms early. Skin cancer screenings can help.
