Believe Project: $100 to replace money a generous teachers aide lost

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Patricia Ruff of Palatine.

Here is an excerpt of her pitch:

"There is a wonderful giving soul who works as a teachers aide at Kirk School for special needs individuals in Palatine. She frequently does respite for special needs families and volunteers at Little City. She often takes some of the residents out to dinner, lunch, and movies using her own funds. Teachers aides do not make a lot of money. I know, as I am one of her co-workers.

"At lunch one day she told of a recent outing with a Little City resident, where she accidentally lost her purse. She got it back - minus the $80 that she had just taken out of the bank. As single person, her volunteerism means so much to her and she loves to be able to take the residents out, but as she said, 'It gets too expensive.'

"Here is a person who has little to give but in reality gives so much. I would love to replace the money she lost."

• The Believe Project is awarding $100 each day in December to a different person with a good idea for how to use $100 to do a good deed for someone else.
