Believe Project: $100 to help sick friend buy presents for his kids

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Paul Young of North Aurora.

Here is an excerpt from his pitch:

"I have a friend who recently found out that he has cancer and a 40 percent chance of survival. He just turned 50 years old last month and is the father of four children ranging in ages from 13 to 22. I and a few others visit him and help as much as we can but an additional $100 would greatly assist him with getting a few Christmas gifts for his children. He is divorced, lives alone in a small apartment and is unable to work now while going through treatment."

• The Believe Project will award $100 each day in December to a different person with a good idea for how to use $100 to do a good deed for someone else. Email us your pitch of 100 words or fewer (include your name, address and hometown) to specialevents@dailyherald.com.
