Believe Project: $100 to help downsized co-worker buy prescriptions

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Mary Ann Zemla of Palatine.

Here is an excerpt of her pitch:

"In 2012, our entire division within a large corporation was downsized. The saddest individual to downsize was a father of five who is diabetic and has a dad with a terminal illness. I'm happy to say he found another position. I just heard, the branch shut down, this individual filed bankruptcy, is trying to help his dad and support his family on unemployment and can no longer afford his own medication."

• The Believe Project will award $100 each day in December to a different person with a good idea for how to use $100 to do a good deed for someone else. Email us your pitch of 100 words or fewer (include your name, address and hometown) to specialevents@dailyherald.com.
