Wauconda turns back Grant

Wauconda stayed perfect (7-0) in the North Suburban Prairie Division with a 13-12 slugfest victory over Grant in North Suburban Prairie baseball Monday.

Brandon Gibis went 3-for-4 at the plate and also got the pitching victory. He went 5 innings. Kyle Bock and Luke Kenny added 2 hits apiece for Wauconda, which is 9-4 overall.

For Grant, Simeon Lucas did his best to keep pace. He went 4-for-5 on the day and drove in 5 runs with a 2-run home run and a 3-run home run. He also had 2 doubles.

Grayslake Central 5, Woodstock 4: Grayslake Central scored 3 runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally for the victory. The Rams were behind 4-2 entering the seventh but pinch hitters Austin Kaiser and Jackson Truskowski led off the inning with walks and Pat Burba followed with a sharp single to right to load the bases. Pinch runner AJ Hord was balked home, Ryan Fontana was walked and then Kyle Balling belted a 2-RBI single to give the Rams the lead for good. Relief pitcher Kyle Hinke tossed a scoreless sixth and seventh inning to earn his first varsity victory for Grayslake Central, which has won four straight games and improves to 15-8 on the season.

Grayslake North 13, Jacobs 5: Pitcher Adam Gomski improved his record on the mound to 3-1 with the victory for Grayslake North. The Knights move to 10-4 on the season.

Antioch 4, McHenry 2: Christian Norris had a triple and Mitch Everett had a double to lead Antioch to the victory. Pitcher David Meade got the win. He rolled up 7 strikeouts over six innings.

Libertyville 9, Lake Zurich 5: PJ Neumann and Hunter Van Wagner each had 2 hits to lead Libertyville. Jeff Barton got the pitching win. He had 4 strikeouts. Lake Zurich was led by Mike Shastany, who had 2 hits.

Mundelein 11, Bradford 1: On Saturday, Logan Reckert went 2-for-3, as the Mustangs improved to 17-1.

Mundelein got doubles from Luke Adams and Derek Parola, while Nick Brune earned the win in the nonconference game.

Carmel 4, Notre Dame 3: Carmel scored its winning run in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI-single by Ryan Duncan. It was his first hit of the game. Carmel moves to 14-3 overall and 8-1 in the East Suburban Catholic Conference.
