Join Girls on the Run Northwest Illinois 5K Race May 19

Crystal Lake, IL - Girls on the Run of Northwest Illinois (GOTRNWIL), celebrating its sixth year serving girls, will be hosting their 5th Annual Girls on the Run 5K on May 19th at Woodstock North High School. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. and is open to the community.

“We are excited to be hosting our race in Woodstock this year” said Lisa Puma, Program Director. “Over 2,000 girls, running buddies and community runners are anticipated for this event. Our 5K is truly a celebration of each and every girl who participates in our program and it is the final “lesson” for the girls and a way to let them shine”.

The event is non –competitive, though there will be a clock at the finish line for those interested in their time. “Every runner receives a race bib with the number one” said Laurie Dayon, Executive Director. “Every girl is a superstar – it doesn't matter what place she finishes in, it's crossing the finish line that lets her know she can do anything”.

The race is sponsored by Centegra Health Systems, Sage, The Running Depot, Power Construction Company, and Baxter Credit Union. The event is open to the community and is a fundraiser for Girls on the Run of Northwest Illinois. Cost for the event is $25 until May 10th and $35 on race day. Girls on the Run Alumni (girls who have participated in the program before) are invited to wear their old program shirt and receive a discounted race registration of $15.00
