COD library offers online SOS workshops this fall
The Library at College of DuPage is offering several free online SOS Workshops this fall for students, staff and community members.
The free workshops are designed to give participants an overview of topics to help with research, social networking tools and library resources. These online webinars enable participants to hear presentations facilitated by librarians, see live demonstrations of research tools and ask questions via chat or microphone. Registration is not required.
Where Are the Books? Library Renovation Q &A is offered 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, and noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, and 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29. This workshop highlights the Library's upcoming renovation project and instructions for how to access resources in the interim.
Introduction to the COD Library is offered 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, and 2 to 3 p.m. Thursdays, Aug. 23 and 30, and Tuesday, Aug. 28. Participants learn to find books, videos, CDs and more in the Library's collection; how to find materials in the Library; how to get a Library card and the benefits of having one; where to look for periodical articles and much more.
Research Basics: Getting Started is offered 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Sept. 10, and 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24. This workshop highlights the first three steps in the research process: developing a research plan; doing background research; and planning a search strategy.
Research Basics: Finding Sources is offered 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Oct. 15, and from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29. This workshop highlights how to determine quality print and online sources.
