Breakfast kickoff readies residents in 'Making Strides Against Breast Cancer'

Breast cancer survivors and community members in DuPage County will unite to share their stories at an inspirational Kickoff Breakfast for the American Cancer Society's annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, from 8-9 am on Thursday, August 23 at Cantigny Park (1S151 Winfield Rd., Wheaton). Registration begins at 7:30.

Making Strides is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting more than 270 communities to fund the fight against breast cancer. The DuPage County Making Strides walk is scheduled for Sunday, October 21 at Cantigny Park.

In 2011, approximately 9,280 cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in Illinois alone. One of every two women newly diagnosed with breast cancer turns to the Society for help and support. Making Strides enables the American Cancer Society to provide free resources and programs to these women, as well as fund groundbreaking research to find, prevent, treat and cure breast cancer and ensure access to mammograms for women who need them.

To register for the Making Strides Kickoff Breakfast or for more information, go to makingstridesdupage.com or call 630-932-1141 opt 3.
