Waterleaf Restaurant hosts Chateau Montelena dinner
Waterleaf restaurant in Glen Ellyn will host a Chateau Montelena wine dinner on Wednesday, June 13.
Following a 6:30 p.m. cocktail reception, guests will enjoy an exclusive four-course prix fixe dinner at 7 p.m., complete with Chateau Montelena (Napa Valley) wine pairings.
Menu items and wine pairings are Prelude: Carpaccio of Beef with Wasabi Rémoulade (2011 Chateau Montelena Riesling, Potter Valley, Calif.); Appetizer: Butter Roasted Cod with Spiced Lentils (2009 Chateau Monelena Chardonnay, Napa Valley, Calif.); Entrée: Crispy Herbed Lamb Loin with Potatoes "Berny," Honey Roasted Granny Smith Apple, Baby Vegetables Medley, Lamb Jus (2009 Chateau Montelena Estate Zinfandel, Napa Valley, Calif., and 2009 Chateau Montelena Napa Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, Calif.); Dessert: Coconut Pannacotta with Poached Fruits in Champagne Syrup.
Founded in 1882, Chateau Montelena Winery in Napa Valley, Calif., features 254 acres of picturesque land located at the base of Mount Saint Helena. The estate offers a diversity of soils and slopes that translate directly into the layers of complex flavors in the estate's wines. The land's diversified soil results in aromatic, rich and full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon, characterized by the unique earthy-berry flavor that is the Montelena Estate. The Chateau's decade's old (Zinfandel vines, planted in volcanic soil, combined with 10 year old vines in alluvial soil, produce a wine with a spicy, ripe berry flavor. Additional current releases include the Napa Valley Chardonnay and Potter Valley Riesling.
Waterleaf in Glen Ellyn features a contemporary approach to fine dining led by Executive Chef Jean-Louis Clerc. Known for its use of fresh, locally-grown, seasonal ingredients, Waterleaf was recently awarded a three-star rating from the Chicago Sun-Times, which described it as a "Hidden Gem Worth Seeking Out." The elegant 130-seat restaurant features a full-service bar and boasts an extensive wine list of more than 200 bottles from around the world.
The restaurant recently unveiled a new lunch menu and dinner menu, and opened its beautiful outdoor patio overlooking a pond with lush landscaping and a waterfall for guests to enjoy Al Fresco dining.
