Grayslake North springs upset at C-G

Grayslake North’s softball team got a big Fox Valley Conference win Thursday.

Kristina Gandy struck out 12 and aided her own cause with a couple of hits and an RBI, as the Knights knocked off host Cary-Grove 4-1.

Kelsey Borders went 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI for Grayslake North (14-7-1, 7-0), while Jordyn Bowen was 2-for-4. Marli Kram added a single and an RBI.

Gandy gave up only 2 hits.

Libertyville 6, Wauconda 4: The host Wildcats rallied for 4 runs in the sixth to win the North Suburban Conference crossover.

Margaret Haws, Calley Kaluzny and Andie Grant each went 2-for-3 for Libertyville. Emilie Teitz earned the win in relief.

Lake Zurich 3, Vernon Hills 2: The Bears scored 3 runs in the bottom of the third and held on for the North Suburban crossover win.

Shannon McPeek earned the win for Lake Zurich (15-7), which had its 10-game winning streak snapped Tuesday against Warren.

Vernon Hills fell to 14-7, despite a double from Kristina Kliver.

Stevenson 10, Round Lake 0: Lexi Yonkovic and Cailin Rubenstein hit home runs for the Patriots in the North Suburban crossover.

Yonkovic was 2-for-2 with 2 walks, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Ali Castriano went 2-for-3 with a double, 2 runs and an RBI. Sam Feder struck out 10 and allowed 1 hit in 4 innings.

Stevenson improved to 6-16.

Warren 11, Antioch 0: Lisiann Rodriguez belted a grand slam and also singled, as the host Blue Devils won their fifth in a row.

Amy Ricci also homered for Warren (19-3-1) in the North Suburban crossover. Hayley Roane went 3-for-3, and Jessica Demski pitched a five-inning complete game.

Mundelein 6, Grant 1: Alex Hemmer was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, leading the Mustangs to the North Suburban crossover win.

Mundelein (8-10) got 2-for-4 efforts from Hailey Morelli (double, 2 RBI), Chloe Peterson (2 runs, 2 stolen bases) and Maddie Zazas (2 runs).

Molly Ellett went the distance in the circle to earn the win. She struck out four and scattered 6 hits. Ellett also doubled.
