Libertyville’s baseball team pounded the ball with authority Tuesday.
Evan Skoug homered and knocked in 4 runs, and he along with Anthony Mack and Matt Vogt each had 3 hits in the Wildcats’ 18-8 win over host Stevenson in a North Suburban Lake Division slugfest in Lincolnshire.
Libertyville had 19 hits, including others for extra bases by Vogt (triple) and Kevin McQuillen (double). Nick Coutre (2-for-5) and Mack each had 3 RBI, while Justin Guarnaccio (2-for-5) had a pair for the Wildcats. McQuillen was 2-for-3.
Stevenson (12-7, 3-2) got 2-hit games from Max Golembo, Will Bourbon, Steve Galanopoulos, Jack Karras and Anthony D’Angelo (double).
Grant 15, Antioch 0: Simeon Lucas had himself a game to remember.
Lucas went 4-for-4 with a home run, double and 6 RBI, as the Bulldogs won the North Suburban Prairie game in five innings.
Tyler Gorski was 3-for-4 with a double and RBI for Grant (13-5, 4-1), which also received 2 hits apiece from Jordan Villarreal and Jake Ring.
Jared Helmich struck out seven and allowed just 2 hits in improving to 5-0.
Lake Zurich 11, Zion-Benton 4: Down 4-1, the Bears scored 8 runs on 7 hits in the bottom of the fifth inning en route to the North Suburban Lake win.
Tanner Kiser and Anthony Drago homered for Lake Zurich (13-7, 4-3), which got 3 hits from both Collin Roto (double) and Danny O’Connor (double) and two apiece from James DeGeorge, John Orlando, Kiser and Jacob LaRue.
“We’ve not had six multiple-hit players in one game since 2007,” Lake Zurich coach Gary Simon said. “Hopefully tonight is a springboard.”
DeGeorge and Joey Pizzolato made diving catches for Lake Zurich in left field and at shortstop, respectively. Jake Guilianelli threw 3 scoreless innings in relief of starter Mike Lutz (4 innings, 4 runs, 1 earned, 3 strikeouts) to earn his third win.
Wauconda 6, Vernon Hills 3: Tony Kaminsky was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, Kyle Bock went 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI, and Jake Ziolkowski finished 2-for-3 with an RBI for the visiting Bulldogs in the North Suburban Prairie showdown.
Wauconda (13-6) got to Cougars starter Pat Crowley for 3 runs (2 earned) in the top of the first.
The Bulldogs scored the eventual game-winning run when John Kamakis doubled and scored on Bock’s double in the third.
Brandon Gibis earned the win.
Tyler Feece had 2 hits and an RBI for Vernon Hills (16-5). Jake Boyer also drove in a run, and MJ Crowley contributed a double.
Warren 3, Lake Forest 2: The Blue Devils scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to snap a 2-2 tie in the North Suburban Lake game.
Pat Temaner homered and drove in 2 runs for Warren (8-10), and Adam Reuss doubled twice. Justin Cobe also had 2 hits for the Blue Devils. Jimmy Nickell earned the win with 3 scoreless innings in relief of Reuss, who started on the mound.
Grayslake Central 8, Woodstock 1: The Rams stretched their winning streak to eight games, as Kristian Meehan had a pair of doubles and 4 RBI in the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division game.
Nick Hosford added a pair of singles, scored 3 runs and stole 3 bases. Jon Gurchak also doubled for Grayslake Central (15-5, 8-1), which scored all 8 of its run in the first three innings.
Mark Ash, Kevin Peloza and Jack Spicer combined to pitch a 5-hitter with 5 strikeouts.
“It was nice to jump out to an early lead,” Rams coach Troy Whalen said. “Kristian and Jon are both starting to get hot again with their bats, and our top-of-the-order guys, like Hosford and (Ryan) Hamrick, are doing a great job in setting the table.”
