Sisters Lyz and Sara Steinhoff each scored a goal, and teammate Katie McGrath added the final tally to help Grayslake North’s soccer team beat Crystal Lake Central 3-2 at home Tuesday night.
McGrath also had 2 assists for Grayslake North (9-5-1).
“While we were not as strong as we would have liked behind the ball, we showed a good response and a lot of character,” Knights coach Adam DeCaluwe said. “We reacted to a decent team that did well putting us under pressure.”
Grayslake Central 2, Woodstock 1: Skyler Jessop and Carson Sparman scored for the Rams (8-5), who ran their winning streak to four games.
Jocelyn Gaughran and Emma Shepard had assists, and Kajal Chokshi had 5 saves in goal for Grayslake Central.
Vernon Hills 5, Wauconda 0: Haley Lieberman led the Cougars with 2 goals and an assist in the North Suburban Prairie match.
Amy Andrea, Alex Goldstein and Allison Clatch also scored for Vernon Hills. Kaitlyn Gramins added 2 assists, and Clatch and Katherine Brettmann had 1 apiece.
Antioch 1, Grant 0: Erica Slack scored the lone goal for the Sequoits, who improved to 7-7-1 overall and 2-1 in the North Suburban Prairie.
Reina Dionisio earned the shutout in goal.
Lakes 8, North Chicago 0: Jenna Baker scored 2 goals for the Eagles, who improved to 9-4-1 and 4-0 in the North Suburban Prairie.
Warren 1, Lake Forest 1: Kenzie Verheyen scored, assisted by Sky Anselm, as the Blue Devils got their third tie of the season.
Amanda Macuiba made 10 saves in net for Warren.
Lake Forest Academy 1, Round Lake 0: Jaclyn Meyers scored, assisted by Sarah Clark, to improve Lake Forest Academy’s record to 4-3-2. Carly Thomas made 9 saves to earn the shutout.
