Spohr’s powerful display leads Grant

Spohr socked a pair of home runs and went 3-for-3 with 4 RBI, as Grant’s baseball team defeated host Waukegan 15-5 in a nonconference game that went five innings.
Jacob Trumpis (3-1) pitched 3 scoreless innings, striking out three, for the win. Neither he nor his bullpen — Spohr and Jake Ring — allowed a hit. Spohr and Ring each threw an inning.
Grant scored 10 runs in the opening frame. Ring was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 more stolen bases, giving him 18 on the season.
Simeon Lucas doubled twice and was hit by a pitch in 3 at-bats, and he drove in 2 runs. Matt Paret added a single and an RBI.
Wauconda 15, Round Lake 5: Tony Kaminsky and Kyle Bock each had a single and 4 RBI for the visiting Bulldogs in the North Suburban Prairie contest.
Brandon Gibis and Shawn Sundquist (2 RBI) smacked a pair of hits apiece for Wauconda (10-6, 5-1). Gibis (triple) and Alec Malisheski (double) had the Bulldogs’ only extra-base hits, while Jeff Lindberg notched the win.
Round Lake was led offensively by Anthony Burton (single, walk, 2 RBI) and Ryan Newman (single, 2 walks, run, stolen base).
Mundelein 7, Warren 0: Matt Langlie pitched a complete-game 4-hitter, and Bryan Wiener homered, as the host Mustangs shut out the Blue Devils for the second straight day in North Suburban Lake action.
Langlie (5-1) struck out nine. Offensively for Mundelein (18-2, 6-0), Wiener and Torr Randau each went 2-for-3. Randau had a double, and Will Farmer contributed a triple and 4 RBI.
Warren (8-7) got 2 hits from Alex Letto.
Vernon Hills 17, North Chicago 0: On senior day, Chris Marras doubled twice for the host Cougars in the North Suburban Prairie contest.
John Foley had a triple and double for Vernon Hills, which got other doubles from Tyler Feece and Ethan McGrew. Foley drove in 3 runs, while MJ Crowley, Marras and McGrew each had a pair of RBI.
Steve Nelson, Pat Quinn, Foley, Jay Miller and Andrew Schwarz combined on a five-inning no-hitter.
Lakes 5, Antioch 4 (11 innings): Nick Traska’s walk-off single in the 11th gave the Eagles their second win in as many days over their crosstown rival.
With the North Suburban Prairie game tied 4-4 heading into the bottom of the 11th, John O’Connor led off with a walk. Chris Hoffman followed with his third double of the day to put runners at second and third with no one out. Kyle Neeve was then intentionally walked to bring up Traska.
Traska drilled a line-drive single to center to plate the winning run.
Senior Rob Thompson earned his second win this week, coming in during the top of the 11th with runners on first and second and only one out. Thompson got the first hitter he faced to fly out. The next hitter grounded out to retire the side.
Lakes (9-10, 3-3) got a quality start from junior Justin Demand, who threw 6 innings, allowing only 2 runs on 5 hits. Hoffman finished 3-for-6, while Ryan Burnett (double) and Thompson each had 2 hits.
Antioch fell to 9-5 and 2-2.
