International Field Studies Opportunities Include Trips to Egypt, Costa Rica and Italy

Field and Experiential Learning at College of DuPage will offer courses this spring and summer that travel to such places as Egypt, Costa Rica and Italy.

Courses extend learning beyond the traditional classroom walls by offering students a unique opportunity for hands-on learning while earning college credit. The following is a sample of the international opportunities offered this spring and summer:

“Egypt: A Study of the Monotheistic Religions”: Examine three monotheistic religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam in the Middle East. Classes: Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 3 to May 3. Trip dates: May 12 to 25.

“Costa Rica – Wildlife and Ecosystems”: Learn about the beautiful wildlife, lively culture, history and unique landforms of exotic, tropical ecosystems. Classes: April 18, May 16, June 6, and July 11. Trip dates: June 19 to 28.

“The Art of Italian Cuisine”: Travel to Tuscany for cooking instruction, wine tasting and local tours. Classes: May 1 and June 12. Trip dates: May 14 to 23.

“Multilevel Painting and Drawing in Florence”: Study observational and plein-air painting and drawing in the heart of the history Italian city. Classes: Two dates before and two dates after the trip. Trip dates: May 29 to June 13.

“Architecture of Florence, Tuscany and Rome”: Experience the architecture of the Renaissance in the city where it was born. Classes: May 1 and June 12. Trip dates: May 14 to 23.

“Canada: Animal Research in the Field”: Discover how animals are studied in the wild and accompany several research scientists as they investigate various species of birds, reptiles, fish and insects. Class: April 28. Trip dates: May 13 to 19.

“Crime and Punishment in the U.S. and England”: Compare and contrast the English and the United States criminal justice systems. Classes: May 21 to June 28. Trip dates: June 29 to July 11.

Field and Experiential Learning offerings cover a wide variety of topics, from outdoor adventures to arts and culture to science and nature.
