College of DuPage Starts 2012 With New Website

To better serve current and prospective students, College of DuPage recently unveiled an energized, engaging version of its website: www.cod.edu.

To determine content, structure and the look of the new site, College of DuPage went to the source, interviewing more than 100 prospective and current students, age 16 to 90, to ensure adequate representation of all user groups. The result is a contemporary, user-friendly redesign that focuses more effectively on recruiting, admissions, financial assistance and other high-priority student service areas.

“Focus group comments ranged from navigation to naming issues, all of which were given the utmost consideration as we created a website we believe provides easily accessible information for all visitors,” said Marketing Director Laurie Jorgensen. “This new website serves as a ‘front door' of sorts and really reflects all that College of DuPage offers.”

In less than three weeks, the web team built about 1,600 pages of content, roughly equivalent to 90 percent of the old site, into the new format. Over the next few weeks, the College expects to build the remaining 10 percent of the site.

“This has been a tremendous endeavor and we are pleased that the result is a website that more accurately reflects the quality and diversity of programming at COD,” Jorgensen said.
