Webb, Bennett-Swanson pace VH victory
Lauren Webb scored 21 points, tying her season high, and grabbed 8 rebounds, and Meri Bennett-Swanson added a season-high 21 points as well, as Vernon Hills’ girls basketball team clinched a share of the North Suburban Prairie Division championship with a 66-48 win over visiting Grant on Friday night.
Vernon Hills improved to 19-3 and 10-0 in the NSC Prairie. Both Antioch and Lakes have 2 losses in the division, and each team plays Vernon Hills again.
Alina Lehocky chipped in 5 points and 7 rebounds for Vernon Hills on Senior Night.
Grant (5-16, 4-6) was led by Morgan Jahnke with her third 18-point effort of the season. Brittany Glover had 10 points. Jahnke and Sadie Contreras each sank two 3-pointers.
Stevenson 51, Lake Forest 34: Julia Dabrowski had 10 points and 11 blocked shots for the host Patriots, who moved a game closer to wrapping up the North Suburban Lake Division title.
Olivia Whalen and Kari Moffat added 9 and 8 points, respectively, for Stevenson (19-6, 8-2).
Libertyville 49, Mundelein 21: Alex Haley scored 16 points and Kerry Risley had 14 for the Wildcats (18-6, 8-3), who remained one loss back of Stevenson in the North Suburban Lake.
Antioch 49, Grayslake North 43 (OT): Megan Borries scored 11 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter for the Sequoits in the nonconference game, and Melanie Lass had 6 of her 9 in overtime.
Sarah Huebner added 9 points and 7 rebounds for Antioch (13-11), which trailed by six points in the fourth quarter.
Jordyn Bowen had 13 points, including three 3-pointers, for Grayslake North (14-7).
