Grayslake North rallies for victory

Junior Danny Mateling scored a career-high 23 points, Zack Krupp added 17, and Grayslake North’s boys basketball team rallied in the second half to beat visiting Crystal Lake Central 61-58 Tuesday night.

With Grayslake North (11-6, 4-1) trailing 36-25 at halftime, Mateling sank three of five 3-pointers in the third quarter.

The Knights still trailed 47-45 entering the fourth, but Krupp drained a pair of 3s, and Mateling and Mark Hall also hit shots from beyond the arc.

Hall (12 points) also scored in double figures for the hosts. Nick Carmody (6 points) also made a 3-pointer for Grayslake North, which made 11 in the game.

Crystal Lake Central also hit 11 3s. The Tigers were led by Corban Murphy with 14 points, Nick Decoster with 12 and Chase Cane with 11. Decoster, Cane and Jake Vanscoyoc (9 points) each knocked down three 3s.

Lakes-57, Round Lake-30: Justin Schneider led the visiting Eagles with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the North Suburban Prairie contest.

Troy Swindle added 12 points, as 9 players scored for Lakes (13-7, 7-1).

Round Lake fell to 5-14, 1-7.

Grant 65, Wauconda 47: Jared Helmich scored 21 points, and Ilya Kadushin added 19, as Grant pulled away to win the North Suburban Prairie game.

Grant (13-6, 4-3), which has won four in a row and nine of its last 11, also received 10 points from Sean Wells.

Austin Swenson scored a season-high 23 points (two 3-pointers) and grabbed 6 rebounds for Wauconda (9-12, 2-6). Matt Mead had 9 points.

North Chicago 74, Antioch 48: Marzhon Bryant scored 18 points and JaVairius Amos-Mays added 17, as the visiting Warhawks improved to 7-0 in the North Suburban Prairie.

Antioch (4-16, 0-7) was led by Emery Paramski’s 15 points, which included four 3-pointers.

Grayslake Central 50, Woodstock North 38: The Rams won on the road for the second time in four nights, improving to 6-0 in the Fox Valley Fox Division and 14-5 overall.

Libertyville 59, Zion-Benton 55: The visiting Wildcats completed a regular-season season sweep of the Zee-Bees.

Libertyville improved to 13-6 and 3-4 in the North Suburban Lake.
