COD hosts 'Paying for College' financial aid workshop Feb. 9

The College of DuPage Office of Financial Assistance will host its 2012 Financial Aid Workshop: “Paying for College” on Thursday, Feb. 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Student Resource Center, Room 2800, at the College's Glen Ellyn campus. This free session is open to students and open to the public.

The evening will begin with a general overview on financial aid, including types of aid available, how to apply, the financial aid process, award letters and verification. This program is available in English and Spanish. A Q&A panel will take place following this presentation.

From 6 to 8:30 p.m., the College will have a computer lab open to assist students with filling out the 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Students and parents are encouraged to have already filed their 2011 Federal Tax Return for retrieval of IRS data to answer specific FAFSA tax questions. Seating is limited.

In addition, students (or parents of dependent students) should bring their 2011 Federal Tax Return, 2011 W-2 forms, records of untaxed income, and investment/asset/business values. Students and/or parents should also apply for a Federal Student Aid PIN number prior to this event at www.pin.ed.gov.
