Cary-Grove wins Schaumburg Invite: Melanie Jereb put down 91 kills and served 8 aces Saturday as Cary-Grove went 10-0 on games and won the Schaumburg Invite. The Trojans (27-4) defeated Larkin, Hononegah, St. Viator, Bartlett and St. Charles North on their way to their third straight title at Schaumburg. Jess Bartcvyszynh (91 assists), Nicole Shuh (45 digs) and Sheila Wilhelm (12 blocks) also contributed.Bartlett at Schaumburg: The Hawks finished 1-4 at Schaumburg, losing to Schaumburg, St. Charles North, Cary-Grove and Hononegah after beating Harvest Christian. Lexia Mason had 35 kills and 29 digs, Amy Hurban and Katie Hrbacek had 20 digs each and Tori Burke 72 assists for Bartlett (10-18).
Elgin Academy wins tournament: The Hilltoppers defeated Harvest Christian, South Beloit and Faith Lutheran to win the Faith Lutheran tournament. Bridget Keslinke had 23 kills, 19 digs and 20 points, Claire Fuigel added 15 kills and 19 digs and Angie Martinez had 4 kills, 47 assists and 7 aces for Elgin Academy (10-11).Dundee-Crown at CL Central: The Chargers had a tough day at the Crystal Lake Central Invite, losing to Wauconda, Harvard, Zion-Benton, CL Central and Elk Grove. Jillian Hostetler and Steph Magsaman each had 19 kills for D-C and Rebekah Hischke added 18. Cari Eischen had 54 assists and 21 digs, Alexa Shemanske added 22 digs and 11 kills, Cassie Sommers had 65 digs and 4 aces and Carlin Faulkner 4 aces for the Chargers (4-18).
