Runners/Walkers Can Still Register for COD's Inaugural Laps With the Chaps on Oct. 22

Runners and walkers of all ages can still register for the inaugural Laps With the Chaps 5K Run/Walk, which will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, on the College of DuPage main campus in Glen Ellyn.

Participants will begin and end in the COD football stadium, with the route winding throughout the newly renovated and landscaped campus. Other highlights of the event include the following:

Prizes will be awarded in different age groups and to the overall male and female winners. Additional team prizes will be awarded for best team name, best time and best visual representation of COD spirit.

All net proceeds will benefit College of DuPage scholarships.

The race village, which will stay open until 6 p.m., will include free games, $5 massages, a Moon Jump and an informal kids' race.

Door prizes will be announced during the post-race celebration.

KISS-FM and WDCB will provide music and entertainment.

Food will be provided by Firehouse Subs and Skuddlebutts, which will offer pizza and a live barbecue, with net proceeds benefitting COD scholarships.

The cost to enter Laps With the Chaps is $30 through Oct. 9, $35 from Oct. 10 to 20, and $40 on race day, with a $5 discount for College of DuPage students and Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) members. Enter the coupon code from the registration website and receive an additional $5 off. Participants who register as a team receive a $5 discount. Each participant will receive a long-sleeve performance T-shirt and three free tickets to the football game between the COD Chaparrals – winners of the 2010 Graphic Edge Bowl – and the Joliet Junior College Wolves, which begins at 6 p.m. on race day.
