Grove Players announces 'Once Upon a Mattress' auditions

Grove Players will hold auditions for their 2011-2012 season opener, "Once Upon a Mattress."

The auditions are Friday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 20 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.; with callbacks on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1125 Franklin, Downers Grove.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script, singing and dancing. Auditioners should prepare 32 bars of a song demonstrating their vocal ability (either from the show or in the style of the show) and bring the piano score for their selection; an accompanist will be provided. They should also be prepared to dance (with dance shoes) and bring a list of conflict dates. This show is non-equity and there is no pay.

Rehearsals are scheduled for Tuesday nights, Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons. Performances will be Nov. 4-6, 11-13, 18-20 at the Lincoln Center in Downers Grove.

Jon Grigalunas will direct the show, with musical direction by Jim Stahulak. Carla Mutone will choreograph.
