COD's 'Images' highlights success of students, faculty

Each month, Images highlights the personalities, news and curriculum of a vibrant College of DuPage campus. The show airs on 13 area cable television stations.

The August/September Images highlights student Jessica LaPlante, who recently received a Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship to complete her degree in philosophy at the University of Illinois. The 29-year-old Wheaton resident is one of 63 students nationwide to receive the scholarship and the fifth COD recipient in the school's history.

The August/September Images also features a segment on 2010-2011 Overall Outstanding Faculty Member Michelle Moore, Ph.D. A COD English professor, Moore reflects on the College's diverse student population, the College's wealth of resources and her techniques for inspiring students.

The August/September Images also features a segment on faculty member Paul Sirvatka. The meteorology professor discusses his approach to teaching and the excitement of connecting with students in the classroom.

In addition, this month's Images features a segment on student Azeam Anjum of Naperville, who recently was accepted into the Sciences Undergraduate Laboratory Internship program at Argonne National Laboratory.

This month's Images also highlight College alum Amy Beth Kirsten, who was awarded a 12-month fellowship through the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation along with a Levy Supplemental Stipend for music composition. She will compose a large work for the Grammy Award-winning ensemble eighth blackbird. She also recently completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Music Composition from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, one of the most prestigious music schools in the country,

Images airs at various times on cable television stations in Downers Grove, Wheaton, Addison, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Glendale Heights, Bartlett, Lemont, Elk Grove, Darien, Aurora and West Chicago. Check local cable listings for times and channels.
